Brian Dermody recently received his PhD with a dissertation that attracted much media attention. Dermody will address the question how climate has changed in the Mediterranean area since the end of the last ice age, and what the impact was of these changes on civilizations in the Mediterranean region.
Paul Meijer is interested in the peculiarities of the geological evolution of the Mediterranean region. We are dealing with a land-locked basin. We will examine both the tectonic evolution of the region and its consequences for circulation and sedimentation, in the past as well as the present.
Geohuis is a platform for sharing knowledge and debate of the Geoscience Faculty addressing geoscience related topics from a multidisciplinary perspective. Geohuis is organized in collaboration with students from the Honour’s Program. Two Honour’s Program students will present a column on the topic.
